Global Business, Ethics, and Partnerships: Defining a New Bottom Line with Rajan Kamalanathan

On September 5th, 2007, the Mortara Center co-sponsored “Global Business, Ethics, and Partnerships: Defining the New Bottom Line” to welcome Rajan Kamalanathan, Vice President for Ethical Standards, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

Kamalanathan discussed what Wal-Mart has done in the area of environmental standards and quality assurance in the production and marketing of its merchandise and in the handling of waste products from its sales. An interesting presentation, it was made even more lively by a student protest against Wal-Mart outside Copley Lounge – the first such protest in Mortara’s history. This presentation was co-sponsored by the Society for International Development, Development Alternatives, Inc. and the US Agency for International Development.
