Book Talk: Afterwar

On September 16th, 2015, Georgetown University Professor Nancy Sherman discussed her new book,Afterwar: Healing the Moral Wounds of Our Soldiers. Sherman argued that in addition to healing the  psychology and physical wounds of war, we as a community must confront the moral injuries that arise from warfare.  Drawing on both philosophy and psychoanalysis, Sherman discussed with Center Director Kathleen McNamara how moral emotions such as accountability, distrust, self-worth, and helplessness – matter in the aftermath of war.
