Our Goals

GPEP is grounded in three pillars: Developing New Ideas, Creating a Scholarly Infrastructure, and Disseminating the New Scholarship

Pillar I: Generating Ideas for Change

GPEP seeks to develop scholarship that goes beyond the traditional neo-liberal view of globalization. A key source of change will target the development and nurturing of alternative viewpoints and perspectives that better grapple with the tensions that arise from open markets and put society back at the center of inquiry.

Pillar II: Creating a Scholarly Infrastructure

A second goal is to create incentives for the next generation of researchers to take up a broader set of questions around markets, by providing material support, mentoring, and a network of other emerging scholars to demonstrate the professional success that can come from forging new paths in international and comparative political economy.

Pillar III: Disseminating a New Model of the Market

Finally, we view it as crucial to disseminate GPEP research into the broader policy community in the US and beyond. In addition to nurturing new ideas among the next generation of scholars, we will also train academics to push these new insights into decision-maker circles and broader public debates.
