Aditi Sahasrabuddhe
GPEP Fellow
Aditi Sahasrabuddhe is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Government at Cornell University and a Global Political Economy Project (GPEP) Pre-doctoral Fellow at the Mortara Center for International Studies, Georgetown University. Her research specialises in the politics of international finance, central banking, international cooperation and economic history, with a focus on systemic financial crisis management. Her dissertation asks the questions of why and among whom central bank swaps are most likely to be used for crisis management, over preexisting formal and institutional arrangements. She argues that individual central bank leaders and their personal relationships with their foreign counterparts shape outcomes of crisis management. As such, she shows that international cooperation is fundamentally rooted in interpersonal cooperation. In addition to her dissertation, she has published related work in the Review of International Political Economy. Her writing has also appeared in The Washington Post’s Monkey Cage. She received her MSc in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and her (undergraduate) MA in Economics and Politics from the University of Edinburgh. She likes to spend her free time outdoors, running, hiking or swimming. In the summer, you’ll most likely find her sailing or windsurfing on the nearest sea or lake.
