Mortara ASAP Grants

The Mortara Center announced a new research program in the spring of 2023, Mortara ASAP: Analyzing Security and Prosperity.

As part of the Mortara Center’s mission as a hub for research focusing on theory and practice in international affairs, this program supports research on security and prosperity, broadly defined, from any field, region, or thematic area represented in the School of Foreign Service (SFS).

Mortara invites applications for ASAP grants, to allow faculty to “test the waters” of a new project, add a new research component to an existing project, or respond rapidly to timely research opportunities. This grant is intended to supplement existing sources of SFS and university research support.

Eligibility: All proposals must come from faculty (TL or NTL) with an appointment in the SFS. Proposals may include projects conducted with student collaborators, but faculty must be the PI (please indicate this in your application).

Criteria: As funding is limited, priority will be given to (1) faculty affiliated with the Mortara Center and/or its mission, including faculty MURF mentors; (2) those working on questions related to security and prosperity; (3) junior faculty; and (4) time-sensitive or timely proposals where funding would make an immediate difference to assessing research feasibility or augment research in progress.

The spring 2024 applications were open until Thursday, April 25, 2024. The fall 2024 applications will open early to mid-November. Stay tuned!
