Eddie Yang
GPEP Fellow (2023–2024)
Eddie Yang is a Ph.D. candidate in political science at UC San Diego. He studies repression and the politics of Artificial Intelligence (AI). His dissertation examines how political institutions, such as censorship and propaganda, induce bias in AI; and the implications of such bias for authoritarian politics. In other work, he studies algorithmic fairness and its interactions with politics. Eddie's work is motivated by normative concerns about freedom and justice. Eddie received his MA from the University of Chicago and his BA from UCLA. He is currently a research intern at Microsoft Research, and was previously a CDDRL/HAI Fellow at Stanford University.
