Daniel Lam

Daniel Lam is the Assistant Director of the Mortara Center for International Studies. He joined the Center after completing the joint Georgetown School of Foreign Service and Earth Commons M.S. in Environment & International Affairs in August 2026. Daniel spent the last semester of the program as a United Nations public information intern in Washington, DC.

Prior to entering graduate studies at Georgetown, Daniel was a twice-Emmy-nominated journalist with NBC News, working across the NBC Nightly News, 2024 Decision Desk, and NBC News special reports team. He has produced and reported from Maine to Michigan and from Times Square to the White House. Daniel’s journalism, which also includes experiences with college radio, NPR, and MSNBC, has also been recognized by the White House Correspondents’ Association and Asian American Journalists Association.

Daniel earned a B.A. at Dartmouth College, majoring in Government and minoring in Policy Rhetoric. As an undergraduate, he worked as a research assistant in labs focused on military history, populism in Europe, regenerative agriculture, and ancient Egyptian archaeology. At Dartmouth, Daniel was also a competitive lumberjack. After graduating, he joined the Irving Institute for Energy and Society as program coordinator.
