Sofia Doroshenko
BSFS '24
Sofia Doroshenko is a first-year in the School of Foreign Service majoring in Culture and Politics. She was born in Moscow, Russia, but moved to Texas with her family at age 4. From a young age, she has fulfilled her wonder and curiosity at the mysteries of life by trying to understand the world around her, especially by looking through the cultural lens of the humanities. She enrolled in Professor Joshi’s seminar about the development of India, in which she witnessed the beautiful intersection of politics and international relations with art, literature, and music. Sofia will be assisting Professor Jessica Roda with her research on the ethnography of Orthodox Jewish female artistic life in North America. Outside of MURFs, Sofia is a member of the Outdoor Education club and hopes to someday get her certification. She also loves being in nature, reading, journaling, taking photos with her film camera, and going on ridiculously long walks.
