Sofia Doroshenko

Sofia Doroshenko is studying Culture and Politics with a certificate in Eurasian, Russian, and East European Studies. During her time as a MURF she has worked with ethnomusicologist Dr. Jessica Roda to assist in the research, editing, and publication of her academic book, “For Girls and Women Only: Reshaping Jewish Orthodoxy Through the Arts in the Digital Age”. Sofia was also the recipient of the 2022 Circumnavigator Grant, which allowed her to solo travel across Chile, Argentina, Germany, Latvia, Vietnam, and Japan in 90 days to conduct an original research project titled “Remembering the Past: How Does Civil Society Challenge Government Memory?” Outside of academics, Sofia is a guide with the Outdoor Education Club, has been a fellow with the Lab for Politics and Performance, and enjoys creative activities, such as being a professional facepainter.
